How PyLabs XP Works
Every point in PyLabs is earned through verified engagement. Here is the complete reward breakdown:
1. Reading & Study Timers
Lessons
Earn XP equal to the lesson's reading duration in minutes (e.g. 8 min reading = +8 XP upon completion).
Cheat Sheets
Awarded after completing 5 minutes of focused study.
Documentation
Awarded after completing 15 minutes of active reading.
2. Coding Practice & Exercises
Base Exercise XP
Tiered by difficulty: 5 XP (Easy), 10 XP (Medium), 15 XP (Hard), 20 XP (Very Hard).
Worked Examples
Earned when you meaningfully edit starter code and run it to produce fresh output.
Proportional Hint Penalty
Each hint costs 10% of base XP (rounded to nearest whole number, min 1 XP). XP cannot drop below 0.
Solution Reveal
Viewing the solution immediately zeroes out the XP for that exercise.
3. Quizzes & Assessments
Correct Answer
Awarded for each correct question answered on your first attempt.
Incorrect Answer
Penalty deducted for each incorrect choice.
Perfect Quiz Bonus
Special bonus awarded for achieving a 100% score on a quiz.
Final Comprehensive Exam
Passing the final exam (80%+ score) awards certification and bonus XP.
4. Account Security & Identity
Security Questions
One-time setup reward for registering 3 security questions.
Google Account Link
One-time reward for linking Google OAuth sign-in.
Phone Verification
One-time reward for verifying a valid phone number via SMS.
Meaningful Full Name
Setting your full real name ("First Last") earns +20 XP. Changing to a placeholder incurs penalty.
